SMS Opt-In

How an account holder of And the Kitchen Sink consents to receive text messages, and what they see when they do.

Who we are

The registered sender is Ricky O'Neal, a sole proprietor based in Illinois, who operates the field service software And the Kitchen Sink. A sole proprietor registration carries the person's legal name, so both names identify the same single sender, and every message on this program shows both: "And the Kitchen Sink (Ricky O'Neal)". Text messaging is an optional feature available only to And the Kitchen Sink account holders, who are owners of residential trade businesses. This messaging program is not used to send marketing or promotional messages, and it is not used to message a contractor's own customers.

How an account holder opts in

Account holders are provisioned by And the Kitchen Sink and sign in to their own private account. There is no public sign-up form, so the consent screen described here sits behind that sign-in, because it lives alongside the owner's own business records. This page exists so the consent step can be reviewed without an account.

Inside the account, the owner opens Settings, then Text messages. There is a single switch labelled "Text Mary from your phone".

The switch is off by default. It is never pre-selected, and nothing turns it on except the account holder choosing to. The account is fully usable with the switch off, so consent is optional and is not a condition of using the software. No text message is sent to any number until that switch is turned on.

The consent disclosure, word for word

This is the text shown beside the switch, exactly as it appears in the product:

"Turn this on to agree to receive recurring text messages from And the Kitchen Sink (Ricky O'Neal) at the mobile number you enter below. Mary only replies to texts you send her and never messages you first. Message frequency varies based on your use, typically one reply per text you send. Message and data rates may apply. You can use your account with this setting off. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. See our Privacy Policy and Terms."

"Mary" is the name of the assistant inside the software. The words "Privacy Policy" and "Terms" in that disclosure are links, to getatks.com/privacy and getatks.com/terms respectively.

The account holder enters their own mobile number

Directly beneath the disclosure is a field labelled "Your mobile number". The account holder types the mobile number they want texts sent to. Nothing is stored until they enter it and turn the switch on, and both are saved in the same action, so the consent on record is always tied to the number that person entered for themselves.

Once the switch is on, the number is shown back to them rather than left editable. Changing the number a consent belongs to means turning the switch off and on again, which records a fresh decision against the new number instead of quietly moving an old one.

The consent screen, step by step

These are screenshots of that screen in the live product, in the order an account holder moves through it. They were taken on 31 August 2026 on a real account, and the mobile number shown is the real number that account holder consented for.

1. Before consent. The switch is off, which is its default state, and the mobile number field is empty. The account is fully usable like this, so consent is optional and is not a condition of using the software.

2. The account holder enters their own mobile number. The switch is still off. Typing a number does not grant consent and nothing is saved at this point.

3. Consent is given. The account holder turns the switch on. Only now are the number and the consent recorded, together, and the number they entered is shown back to them. This is the only way consent is given.

How the messaging works after opt-in

Once the switch is on, the account holder starts every conversation. They text the And the Kitchen Sink number from the mobile number on their account, to log a job or record a payment they have already received. The assistant replies to that message with a short summary to confirm, or asks for a detail that was missing.

And the Kitchen Sink never sends the first message. There is no scheduled, promotional, or marketing message in this program. Every message is a reply to one the account holder just sent, so the volume is set by the account holder: roughly one reply per message they send.

Every message identifies the sender by name, beginning "And the Kitchen Sink (Ricky O'Neal):", and ends with "Reply STOP to end texts."

Opting out, help, and starting again

To opt out, reply STOP to any message from the number, or turn the switch back off in Settings. Messages stop immediately. CANCEL, END, OPTOUT, QUIT, REVOKE, STOPALL and UNSUBSCRIBE do the same thing.

For help, reply HELP or INFO. The reply names And the Kitchen Sink, says what the program is, gives a support email, and repeats the opt-out instruction.

Someone who previously opted in and then opted out can restore messaging by texting START or UNSTOP, or by turning the switch back on. START is only a way to restore messaging for someone who already consented once. It is not a way to enroll. Initial consent is never collected by text message.

Privacy

Mobile numbers and text messaging consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and are never sold. See the Privacy Policy.
